The Amazon Affiliate Program is Dead. Here’s what to Do Now

By Sean Ogle •  Updated: 04/16/20 •  2 min read

You might have saw the news earlier this week that Amazon is making major changes to their affiliate program.

At a time when they’re making more money than ever, they’ve decided to change their commission structure from 3-8% per sale, to a measly 1-3%.

This is HUGE.

I know so many bloggers who make the bulk of their income from the Amazon affiliate program, and starting on April 21st, their revenue will be cut my 50%+ OVER NIGHT.

My friend Matt is predicting he will lose $176,929 because of this one *little* change Amazon made.

It’s especially frustrating when as a small business owner, you put your faith in a company like Amazon and assume, that if you help them grow, they’ll do the same for you.

Obviously it didn’t turn out this way.

The good news, is that you have options. And in this video I share 5 things that I’m thinking about, now that the Amazon Affiliate Program isn’t nearly the good option for monetization that it once was.

Drop a comment and let me know what you think.

Do you think these numbers will change once the Covid19 self quarantine has ended? Sounds like they changed them to cut down on overhead (which is BS but OK). Got to make those stockholders happy…. screw your salesmen though. I’m in the process of building my site and was excited about affiliate program then…. this!

There are other solutions, that the payout is awesome, different niches, but at the end of the day, what is matters is to have traffic on your website.
The issue is that some of the best solutions are not available to US consumers.

If you weren’t already an Amazon Affiliate, you cannot just sign up to “plug and play” now. So without affiliate links, they require 3 sales (with no affiliate program) within 180 days on your Associate account to get the needed AWS access. As someone new to this Affiliate marketing jazz, I’m essentially locked out from the Amazon affiliate program.
